SAMBURU
Land of Leopards
A quick google search for Samburu will highlight the fact that the Samburu National Reserve is located on the banks of the Ewaso Ng'iro river in Kenya and is most commonly associated with the best selling book and award winning movie Born Free. Here, conservationists Richard and Joy Adamson raised Elsa the lioness. Whilst Elsa captured the imagination of people the world over, present day Samburu has cast an enchanting spell on more recent visitors hosted by WOW Safaris. Following a visit to Samburu, WOW team member Paras Chandaria sang the praises for the reserve he holds dear - "The magic of Samburu has always surprised me and I can’t speak of it highly enough. Simply put, it is the perfect habitat for leopards and a photographers dream destination. Whilst Samburu National Reserve is definitely the land of leopards, there are many other other wildlife gems. For example, the Northern five species (Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy's Zebra, Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk, and the Somali Ostrich) and rare species such as the striped hyena, caracal, wild dogs and even the wild cat. The elephants of Samburu are probably the friendliest in the whole of Kenya and have proved to be the highlight for many a visitor. Finally, I must mention the magnificent, diverse landscape and views on display - hills, rivers, rocks, the duo palm trees, the dead trees, the sandy beaches." Samburu - we are are probably going anyway, so we would really like you to join us.
